(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors Tuesday reviewed options and cost estimates for surveys on the courthouse.
Cory Peterson of the Iowa State University Extension Service presented the information on behalf of Vern Ryan of I-S-U who facilitated public meetings on the issue last spring.
The first option for a random survey of 500 people was quoted at 9,050-dollars; for 600 the price goes to 9,512-dollars. The second option would have volunteers deliver the surveys and pick them up. The cost for 500 would be 6,930-dollars; for 600 it would be 6,992. Names for that survey would also be randomly selected. Peterson says voluntary questionnaires could be sent to those requesting them, but those results would not be included in an executive report. Surveying all of the county’s 12-thousand registered voters would cost an estimated 60-thousand dollars.
Following a lengthy discussion on what a survey would accomplish, the supervisors decided to meet with peterson, Ryan and others to discuss that and possible options that might be included.
