(Washington, D.C.)– A northwest Iowa power cooperative is getting a multi-million dollar loan through the United States Department of Agriculture.
U-S Senator Charles Grassley says Corn Belt Power Cooperative, based in Humboldt, will be getting a 34,644,000-dollar Rural Utilities Loan through the U-S-D-A.
Corn Belt officials say five million of that will be used to build 72 miles of new power lines; 10,487,000-dollars will be used for new substations; eight-point-three million will go for transmission line and substation changes; and ten-point-three million will be used for transmission and miscellaneous items.
Corn Belt Power serves 37 Iowa counties, including Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Kossuth, Palo Alto and Pocahontas.
