More Drug Arrests Made In Clay County

November 23, 2014

(Spencer)– Four arrests have been in an ongoing drug investigation in Clay county. This is the second time in less than a month three of the four have been arrested.

34-year-old Joel Lee Storey of rural Spencer was arrested Monday evening and charged with tampering with a witness stemming from threats he allegedly made toward a potential witness against him in a previous narcotics case. Storey was booked into the Clay county jail on bond of 6,500-dollars. A search warrant was executed on Storey’s residence early Tuesday that led to the seizure of items related to the manufacture of methamphetamine and other illegal narcotics. Also arrested at Storey’s residence was 22-year-old Lisa Marie VanAmpting of Spencer who was charged with multiple narcotic offenses.

Storey is being held on charges of prohibited acts-possession of precursors for the manufacture of methamphetamine, a class “D” felony; possession of a controlled substance-marijuana, a serious misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. Bond was set at 12-thousand dollars.

VanAmpting was charged with possession of a controlled substance-marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She’s being held on bond of 2,200-dollars.

A search warrant was also executed on a vehicle at Storey’s residence. It’s been impounded and authorities say charges are pending as precursors for the manufacturing of methamphetamine were found.

That led to the issuance of a third search warrant that was executed on another Spencer residence. Arrested were 29-year-old Jason Storey and 33-year-old Tammy McGrew, both of rural Spencer. They were both charged with prohibited acts-possession of precursors for the manufacture of methamphetamine; possession of a controlled substance-marijuana; prohibited transport of anhydrous ammonia in an unauthorized container, a serious misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond for each was set at nearly 14-thousand dollars.

Clay county authorities say the investigation continues and additional arrests and charges are likely.
