(Undated)– Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased slightly to 4.5 percent in August from 4.4 percent in July according to information released Thursday by Iowa Workforce Development.
The statewide unemployment rate was reported at 4.6 percent for the same period a year ago.
Richard Running, Director of Iowa Workforce Development, says there were further indications of improvement in Iowa’s economy during August.
Locally, Clay county saw it’s jobless rate increase slightly from 2.8 percent in July to three percent in August; Dickinson county went from 1.9 percent in July to 2.1 percent in August; Emmet county also saw a slight increase…going from 3.9 percent in July to four percent in August; O’Brien county stayed the same at 2.7 percent; Osceola county went down from 2.8 percent in July to 2.6 percent in August; and Palo Alto county went from 2.8 percent in July to 2.4 percent in August.
