(Spirit Lake)– Bankers, realtors, attorneys, abstract companies and others requesting multiple pieces of information from the Dickinson County Recorder’s Office will soon have to start paying for it.
The board of supervisors Tuesday approved the proposal from County Recorder Jan Bortscheller. The fees vary, depending on the type of information or documents being requested.
The charges are effective January 1st, 2005.
Bortscheller estimated the charges will generate as much as a thousand dollars a month in additional revenue for the county.
In other business, the board passed a motion to get an estimate from RDG, the architect on the courthouse project, on what it would take to revise plans and construction of the Veteran’s Memorial Plaza in front of the new courthouse. The revisions would include an additional area of engraved pavers, benches and a sign in front of the memorial.
Supervisors also approved a maintenance agreement with West Okoboji for snow removal on old Highway 71 in the Maywood area; and they directed County Engineer Dan Eckert to include the same road in the county’s five-year plan. The cities of West Okoboji and Milford are requesting the county, which now had jurisdiction over most of the roadway, to make improvements to it.
Supervisors also approved the installation of stop signs at the corners of War Eagle Boulevard and 151st Street and War Eagle Boulevard and Roosevelt Boulevard in the Triboji Beach area.
