(Milford)– A Ruthven man was injured this (Thurs.) morning when an S-U-V he was driving collided with a semi tractor tanker-trailer on Highway 71 south of Milford.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says the driver of the tractor tanker-trailer, 28-year-old Joshua Tangeman of Sibley, was turning north onto Highway 71 from the Magellan Pipeline terminal when the semi was struck by a northbound Dodge Durango driven by 30-year-old Brian Spooner of Ruthven.
Spooner was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare with multiple injuries. No injuries were reported to Tangeman or to Brittany Spooner…a passenger in the vehicle Brian Spooner was driving.
The 1999 International semi tractor tanker-trailer driven by by Tangeman sustained about a thousand dollars in damage; 7,500-dollars in damage was estimated to the 2000 Dodge Durango driven by Brian Spooner.
Authorities say there was dense fog in the area with near zero visibility at the time of the crash, which took place around 5:10 a.m.
The northbound lanes of the highway had to be shut down for about an hour while crews removed the wreckage.
Authorities say there was no loss of fuel from the tanker, which was hauling gasoline.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Milford and Arnolds Park Polcie Departments, Milford Fire and Rescue and the Lakes Regional Healthcare Ambulance.
