Community Meth Meeting Planned For Hartley

November 22, 2014

(Hartley)– A community meeting addressing the region’s growing methamphetamine epidemic will be held next week in Hartley.

Angie Towne, a Registered Nurse at the University of Iowa Child Health Specialty Clinic in Spencer, says the meeting is being sponsored by that agency, the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn School District, Hartley Horizons and the city of Hartley.

Towne says the meeting will feature several guest speakers, including police officer Chris Nissen…a narcotics investigator; Ron Whitehead who works in the Spencer school system on substance abuse; and Chuck Illig…a local meth specialist…talking about addiction and helping families to overcome addiction and how parents can help children with addictions. There will also be a question-and-answer session.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 13th at the Hartley Community Center. It’s free of charge and pre-registration isn’t necessary. Parents, students and the general public are urged to attend.

Reimbursement for childcare will be available.
