(Okoboji)– The Lakes Community Theatre has a new permanent home.
It was announced Wednesday the Lakes Art Center and Lakes Community Theatre have formed a working partnership which will result in the community theatre having a year-round home for its productions at the Lakes Art Center’s Lauridsen Theatre. Tom Tourville, Executive Director of the Lakes Art Center, says it means a lot for the Art Center to be able to have an in-house theater company. He says the new arrangement will allow them to combine their marketing efforts. Tourville adds the Community Theatre will also have an office in the Art Center.
Connie Loeschen, President of the Lakes Community Theatre, says it was becoming more and more important for them to have a permanent place for their productions, saying constantly moving the productions was making it confusing for their patrons.
The announcement came as construction continues on the multi-million dollar Sami Bedell Center for the Performing Arts at Spirit Lake High School. Loeschen says the one thousand-plus seat Sami Center, for the most part, will be too large for the productions the community theatre puts on.
