SCT Bids Farewell To Its Executive Director

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– The Spencer community is losing one of its leaders at the end of the month.

Kim Halverson Untiet has resigned as Executive Director of the Spencer Community Theatre after 23 years. Untiet says she’s moving to central Iowa to be closer to family.

Untiet has been a longtime fixture of Spencer Community Theatre. She started as a volunteer for the organization back in 1978.

Untiet says she’s very proud of how the Spencer Community Theatre has grown since it started out in the 4-H building at the Clay County Fairgrounds. They purchased the current location in downtown Spencer in 1982 and moved in after months of rennovation. Untiet says expanding the theatre’s costume shop was also a huge accomplishment. She adds the theatre would not be what it is today without the tireless dedication of the staff and hundreds of volunteers.

A search for Untiet’s replacement is underway. Connie Goeken will serve as Interim Executive Director until a replacement is hired.

Kim Halvorson-Untiet’s last day on the job will be May 31st.
