“Nine Mile Corner” Crash Injures One Person

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– A two-vehicle collision late Friday afternoon west of Milford sent one person to the hospital.

The Iowa State Patrol says vehicles driven by 16-year-old Chloe Palmer of Sioux City and 57-year-old Dennis Kreykes of Sheldon collided at the intersection of County Roads A-34 and M-27, also known as “Nine Mile Corner”.

A passenger in the vehicle driven by Palmer, 12-year-old Duncan Palmer of Sioux City, was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare with some head lacerations, minor abrasions and bruises. No other injuries were reported.

10-thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Palmer; a 1999 Ford pickup driven by Kreykes sustained an estimated 14-thousand dollars in damage with 40-thousand dollars in damage estimated to an Excel camper it was pulling.

Authorities say the vehicle driven by Palmer had stopped for a stopsign and pulled into the path of the vehicle driven by Kreykes. The impact caused the Kreykes vehicle to spin onto the northbound shoulder with the vehicle driven by Palmer sliding sideways.

Palmer was charged with a stopsign violation.

The mishap took place around 5:15 p.m.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office.
