3-Vehicle Accident Near Emerald Hills Injures Four People

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– Four people were injured in a three-vehicle collision Tuesday afternoon on Highway 71 just south of the Emerald Hills Golf Course.

The Milford Police Department says 18-year-old Brandon Stoller of Okoboji was northbound when the vehicle he was driving crossed the center line, colliding head-on with a southbound vehicle driven by 36-year-old Ellen Lambert of Milford. Another southbound vehicle, driven by 17-year-old Joshua Keys of Mendenhall, Missouri made contact with the rear of the vehicle driven by Lambert.

Stoller, Ellen Lambert and her two daughters who were passengers in the van she was driving, eight-year-old Sarah Lambert and seven-year-old Rachel Lambert, were all transported to Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake. Stoller was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital; Ellen Lambert was transferred to Spencer Hospital; and Sarah Lambert was transferred to a Sioux Falls hospital.

No injuries were reported to Keys.

A 2001 Jeep driven by Stoller and a 1998 Plymouth van driven by Lambert were both totaled; a 1984 Chevrolet driven by Keys sustained an estimated two thousand dollars in damage.

Authorities say the force of the collision caused the Jeep Stoller was driving to flip onto its side.

Authorities add the crash remains under investigation and charges may be pending.

Milford police were assisted on the scene by the Arnolds Park and Okoboji Police Departments, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Lakes Area Extrication Unit and Jaws of Life, Milford Fire and Rescue, Arnolds Park Fire and Rescue and Lakes Regional Healthcare Ambulance.

The mishap took place shortly after 3:30 p.m.
