(Spirit Lake)– Ongoing construction of Dickinson county’s new courthouse will result in some big changes for this year’s Memorial Day program in Spirit Lake.
The event traditionally has been held on the east lawn of the Dickinson county courthouse. Since that won’t be possible this year due to the courthouse project, Monday’s program instead will be held on the lawn of Iowa Lakes Community College in Spirit Lake. It will begin at 9:55 a.m. and will be moved indoors in the event of rain.
The keynote speaker this year is Brigadier General Neal Christensen. A parade will follow the program.
Milford’s Memorial Day program begins at 11:00 a.m. at Florence Park. Guest speaker will be Monsignor Seifried of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, who’s also a former military chaplain.
The program in Terril begins at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the American Legion Hall. Guest speaker will be Jack St. Peters of Spencer.
The program in Lake Park begins at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Harris-Lake Park High School Auditorium. Dickinson County Veteran’s Affairs Director Ernie Cupp will be the keynote speaker.
