(Estherville)– Smoking soon will be totally off limits on the grounds of an Estherville hospital.
Bill Bumgarner, President of Avera Holy Family in Estherville, says the hospital will transition to a tobacco-free campus effective Thursday, June 1st. It means hospital employees and physicians will not be allowed to use tobacco products anywhere on the Avera Holy Family campus.
Bumgarner says patients and visitors will be expected to comply with the policy, but exceptions may be made under certain circumstances. However, in those cases tobacco products must be used outside of the building.
He says they’re joining other Avera facilities throughout the region who are also implementing tobacco-free campuses.
Bumgarner adds Avera Holy Family is offering support to members of its healthcare team who will be impacted by the change.
