Meeting Scheduled To Talk About Future Of Fort Defiance

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– Officials with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources have scheduled a public meeting for later this month to discuss the future of Fort Defiance State Park in Estherville. The meeting is set for 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 20th in room 16 of Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville.

Kevin Pape, a supervisor with the DNR’s State Parks Bureau for northwest Iowa, says the meeting will serve as a venue to exchange ideas about the trails, the facilities, and to receive public input on the future of the park, which has fallen into a state of disrepair in recent years.

In addition to Pape, several other DNR personnel will be on hand for the June 20th meeting including the State Parks Bureau Chief, the Fort Defiance Park Ranger and a state parks landscape architect.
