November 22, 2014

(Royal)– Charges have been filed against a Royal man accused of violating a no-contact order.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were attempting to make contact Tuesday evening with 37-year-old Joe Harris of 103 Log Street in Royal. When deputies arrived, Harris jumped from a second story window and fled the scene.

He was located a short time later in the 100 block of East Second Street in Royal and was taken into custody without incident.

Harris was charged with violation of a no-contact order and interference with official acts. He was taken to the Clay county jail where he was held pending an appearance before a magistrate.

The incident took place around 9:30 p.m.
