Palo Alto Co. Pickup Rollover Claims Life

November 22, 2014

(Emmetsburg)– A single-vehicle crash in Palo Alto county has claimed a life.

Sheriff Dennis Goeders says his office received a report around 8:00 p.m. Sunday of a single-vehicle rollover in the 4900 block of 545th Avenue near West Bend.

Goeders says a 2005 Chevrolet pickup was southbound and missed a curve. The vehicle struck a tree and flipped onto its top, catching on fire.

The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Palo Alto County Coroner’s Office.

Goeders says they’re still trying to determine the identity of the victim, and that no further information would be released until that’s done.

Goeders says they aren’t sure as to exactly when the crash happened.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Iowa State Patrol, West Bend Fire Department and Ambulance, West Bend Police Department and the Emmetsburg Ambulance.
