Clay Co. Woman Accused Of Forging Checks

November 22, 2014

(Gillett Grove)– An investigation into a recent rash of forged checks has landed a Gillett Grove woman in jail on theft and forgery charges.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 45-year-old Lisa Harper of Gillett Grove was arrested shortly after 1:00 p.m. Monday at her residence. Authorities say Harper was wanted on felony warrants stemming from an investigation by the Spencer Police Department into a number of forged checks in the Spencer area.

Harper was charged with theft in the fourth degree…a serious misdemeanor; and three counts of forgery…class “D” felonies. She’s being held in the Clay county jail on 31,200-dollars bond.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the arrest by the Iowa State Patrol.
