ELC Voters Overwhelmingly Approve Bond Issue

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– Voters in the Estherville-Lincoln Central School District have overwhelmingly approved an 8.7 million dollar bond issue to build a new middle school.

1,700 people voted yes in Tuesday’s election for an approval margin of nearly 82 percent…easily surpassing the 60 percent needed under Iowa law.

Only 376, or 18 percent, voted no.

Nearly 35 percent of the eligible voters in the Estherville-Lincoln Central School District turned out in Tuesday’s special election.

The new middle school has a total estimated cost of 12 million dollars. The remaining funds needed will come from Local Option Sales Tax receipts.
