November 22, 2014

(Emmetsburg)– Four people were injured in a single vehicle rollover that took place early this (Thursday) morning north of Emmetsburg.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says 18-year-old Megan Mortimer of Estherville was driving a 1999 Chevrolet pickup northbound on 450th Avenue about two miles north of Emmetsburg when she swerved to miss a deer. The vehicle slid sideways and rolled, coming to rest on its top.

Mortimer and three passengers in the vehicle were injured. They include 18-year-old Ashley Ross of Graettinger; 20-year-old Brandon Lundgren of Emmetsburg and 25-year-old Michael Westfall, also of Emmetsburg. All were taken by ambulance to the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg. There was no word on the extent of their injuries.

Authorities say Lundgren and Ross were ejected from the vehicle.

The pickup was totalled.

The Emmetsburg Fire Department assisted on the scene.

The mishap took place around 2:30 a.m.
