(Spirit Lake)– Local firefighters want to make you aware of a scam that’s making the rounds this holiday season.
Spirit Lake Fire Chief David Kollasch says telemarketers claiming to represent local volunteer fire departments have been making calls to some people requesting donations for gifts.
Kollasch says it’s a scam. He says you should contact your local law enforcement agency or Fire Department if you get such a call.
Locally, there have been reports of people in Lake Park and Superior getting such calls.
