Winter Games Organizers Hope For Colder Weather

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– Organizers for the 2007 University of Okoboji Winter Games find themselves in a position they’re all too familiar with: coming up with contingency plans in the event the abnormally warm winter weather continues.

It’s something they’ve had to do the past several years, and Tom Kuhlman, Executive Director of the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce says that’s definitely the case again this year, with a large part of West Lake Okoboji still wide open.

Kuhlman says it’s likely the Winter Games Committee will discuss some contingencies at it’s next meeting scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Monday, January 8th at the Hedberg Theatre at the Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum in Arnolds Park.

Kuhlman says they’re keeping their fingers crossed that some long-range predictions for much colder arctic air late next week come true.
