Emmetsburg Searches Result In Two Arrests

November 22, 2014

(Emmetsburg)– A joint investigation by authorities in Clay and Palo Alto counties resulted in search warrants being executed on two residences in Emmetsburg Tuesday and charges against two men.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says the first search was conducted at 1502 Broadway in Emmetsburg on a warrant obtained by Spencer police in connection with an investigation in that city. Authorities say the search turned up drug paraphernalia and what’s believed to be controlled substances.

Some power tools and firearms reported stolen in burglaries in Palo Alto county were also recovered. A computer check of serial numbers indicated one of the firearms had been stolen in a burglary in Kossuth county.

After further investigation, authorities obtained a second search warrant for a residence at 2703 13th Street in Emmetsburg where additional items that had been reported stolen were recovered. Authorities say a man at that residence became combative. 24-year-old Joshua J. Jorgenson of Emmetsburg was arrested and charged with interference with official acts. He was booked into the Palo Alto county jail.

Also arrested was 33-year-old Chad R. Mussell of Emmetsburg. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of stolen property and violation of a protective order. Mussell was also booked into the Palo Alto county jail.

Authorities say their investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected.
