Crash On East Edge Of SL Results In No Injuries, But Considerable Damage

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– No injuries were reported, but there was a considerable amount of property damage in a two-vehicle collision Wednesday evening on the east edge of Spirit Lake.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says it took place around 6:15 p.m. at the intersection of Highways 9 & 71 and 255th Avenue, or Pioneer Beach Road.

Authorities say Randall Pettit of Milford was slowing to make a left turn off the highway onto 255th Avenue while the driver of a vehicle behind him, Shane Young of Estherville, didn’t see Pettit slow down. Young’s vehicle collided with Pettit’s, causing disabling damage to Young’s vehicle and functional damage to the one driven by Pettit.

Young was cited for failure to stop in a clear assurred distance.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Spirit Lake Police Department.
