(Spencer)– A traffic stop shortly before 1:00 this (Thursday) morning in Clay county resulted in charges against two men.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy pulled a vehicle over in the 700 block of Second Avenue West in Spencer on suspicion the driver was drunk.
Authorities say when the deputy turned on his emergency lights to stop the vehicle the driver, 22-year-old Michael Branham of LeMars, stopped and jumped into the back seat. He was arrested and charged with driving while barred.
The deputy also determined that another man in the vehicle, 24-year-old Zachary Jensen of Hartley, had been driving it about 10 minutes prior to the stop. Jensen was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated.
Jensen is also accused of resisting the deputy as he was being booked into jail. That resulted in an additional charge of interference with official acts being lodged against him.
