Supervisors Vote To Reduce Speed Limit On M-27 South Of Lake Park

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Look for a lower speed limit soon on a stretch of Dickinson County Road M-27 between Highway Nine and the Harris-Lake Park High School in Lake Park.

With little discussion Tuesday, the Dickinson county board of supervisors voted unanimously to reduce the speed limit from 55 mph to 45 mph between Highway Nine and the Presbyterian Church. Between there and the school the limit will be reduced from 45 mph to 35 mph. In addition, a roll-out stop sign will be located at the intersection of County Road M-27 and 140th Street between 8:00 and 8:45 a.m. and between 3:00 and 3:45 p.m. Monday through Friday during the school year.

Harris-Lake Park Superintendent Tim Christiansen presented the request to the supervisors, siting safety concerns. Lake Park City Administrator Nick Lanning told the supervisors the reduced speed limits have also received the backing of the Lake Park city council.

The new speed limits will go in effect as soon as new signs are in place. That’s expected to happen very soon.
