(Spirit Lake)– Add Lakes Regional Healthcare to the growing list of hospitals in the area adopting tobacco-free policies for their campuses.
LRH President and CEO Rich Kielman says the new policy goes into effect this coming June 1st. It includes patients, visitors and those who work at the hospital.
Kielman says the policy only makes sense the hospital is in the business of providing a healthy environment.
According to the Iowa Hospital Administration, 43 of the 119 hospitals throughout the state are already tobacco-free, and atleast another 29 plan to be by the end of 2007.
