November 22, 2014

(Emmetsburg)– Additional charges have been filed against an Emmetsburg man in connection with a series of burglaries in Palo Alto county from December 2006 through February, 2007.

Based on information and evidence obtained through search warrants exected on two locations in Emmetsburg February 13th, authorities have now charged 33-year-old Chad Mussell of Emmetsburg with seven counts of burglary in the third degree. The counts are class “D” felonies with maximum prison sentences of five years.

Mussell was arrested on warrants Friday by Emmetsburg police during a traffic stop. He’s being held in the Palo Alto county jail on 68,250-dollars bond.

Charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of stolen property and violation of a protective order were originally filed against Mussell shortly after the searches.

Another suspect in the case, 24-year-old Joshua J. Jorgenson of Emmetsburg, was charged last week with six counts of burglary in the third degree and one count of obstruction of justice for allegedly altering or tampering with evidence in the investigation.

Jorgenson had also originally been charged with interference with official acts for allegedly being combative during last month’s searches.
