(Milford)– A collision of a school bus and a pickup at the intersection of Dickinson County Roads M-27 and A-34 west of Milford this (Saturday) morning sent two people to the hospital.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 24-year-old Tyler Tessum of Everly was driving a 1995 Ford F-150 pickup pulling a trailer with shearing equipment in it and 79-year-old Howard Titterington of Milford was driving a 2007 Thomas school bus registered to the Okoboji School District when the two collided.
Titterington was ejected from the bus. He was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare and was transferred by air to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester with incapacitating injuries.
Tessum was taken by private vehicle to Spencer Hospital with what was described as non-incapacitating injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
Okoboji School Superintendent Bob Miller tells KUOO news there were no children on the bus at the time of the crash.
A news release issued by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office doesn’t give details as to how the two vehicles collided. It just says the accident remains under investigation and that charges are pending.
10-thousand dollars in damage was estimated to the school bus; damage to the pickup was estimated at 7,500-dollars.
The collision took place around 7:40 a.m.
Titterington is the Mayor of West Okoboji.
