Mediacom Announces Rate Increase

(Des Moines)– Rates are going up for Iowa’s largest cable t-v provider.

Mediacom says it’s raising rates because of increased operating and programming costs, including those that are part of a new contract with Sinclair Broadcasting.

Mediacom spokeswoman Phyllis Peters says other reasons include higher operating expenses, such as fuel and healthcare benefits for employees.

Customers will see the increase in their May bills, arriving in late April.
