Candidates Sought For Clay County Fair Queen

(Spencer)– The search is on for candidates for Clay County Fair Queen.

Area females between the ages of 16 and 19 by August 9th, 2007 are eligible to apply. Contestants must submit a one page typed letter with their name, parents, names, address, email address, recent photo and date of birth. The candidate should describe herself, her activities and her reason for wanting to become Clay County Fair Queen.

The letter must be submitted to the Clay County Fair Queen Contest; Box 527; Spencer, Iowa…51301. Letters must be submitted on or before April 18th.

A committee will selected 14 finalists who will compete for the title Sunday, May 6th at the Clay County Regional Events Center. Candidates will be judged on personality, attitude, awareness, leadership and citizenship, contribution to the community, overall appearance, charm, poise and self-expression.

The Clay County Fair Queen will represent the Clay County Fair in the Flagfest Parade in June, the Iowa State Fair Queen Contest in August; various celebrations throughout the summer and the Clay County Fair in September.

The queen and first runner-up also receive numerous prizes and awards.
