Tragedy Averted At Arnolds Park Trailerhouse

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– A close call this (Friday) morning at a trailer house in Arnolds Park.

Mark Petersen of the Arnolds Park-Okoboji Fire Department tells KUOO news firefighters were called to unit two at the Golf-to-Bay mobile home park shortly after 10:00 a.m. Upon arriving Petersen says smoke could be seen coming from under the trailerhouse. He says a heat cord on some plumbing malfunctioned and some floor joists were starting to smolder.

Fortunately, Petersen says the owner of the trailer was home at the time and called 911 upon noticing the smoke. Petersen says firefighters disconnected the cord and shut the power off. There was very little or no damage.

Firefighters were on the scene about a half-hour.
