(Graettinger)– A single-vehicle mishap Friday in Palo Alto county resulted in injuries to two teens.
The Iowa State Patrol says 18-year-old Michael Matthews of Estherville was westbound on 290th Street when he failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection with 370th Avenue. Authorities say the vehicle went through the “T” intersection, coming to rest in the west ditch.
Matthews and a passenger, 16-year-old Joshua Anderson of Terril, were taken by ambulance to the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg. There was no immediate word on the extent of their injuries and conditions.
Extensive damage was reported to a 1988 Chevrolet pickup Matthews was driving.
The crash took place shortly after 6:30 p.m. Friday.
The State Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, Graettinger Fire and EMS and the Palo Alto County Ambulance Service.
