(Undated)– State and federal grants totaling more than 2.4 million dollars have been awarded to homeless service providers throughout Iowa. The funds are through the federal government’s Emergency Shelter Grant Program and the state’s Homeless Shelter Operations Grant Program.
In northwest Iowa, the Family Crisis Centers of Northwest Iowa in Sioux Center will receive 16-thousand dollars; Upper Des Moines Opportunity in Palo Alto county was awarded 16-thousand dollars; and the Centers Against Abuse and Sexual Assault in Spirit Lake was awarded 13-thousand dollars.
The money can be used for operating expenses and/or homeless prevention programs.
Nearly 120 organizations throughout Iowa were awarded funding.
