(Spencer)– A pursuit Thursday night in Clay county has resulted in charges against four men.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says it all started around 10:00 p.m. when a deputy tried to stop a vehicle on county Road M-54 for a traffic violation. Instead of stopping, authorities say the driver sped away.
A pursuit ensued, eventually going into Webb. Authorities say the suspect drove through several back yards before stopping behind a house in the 200 block of Fourth Avenue. The driver and three occupants then escaped on foot.
At that point officers with the Spencer Police Department, Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol and K-9’s from the State Patrol and Clay County Sheriff’s Office joined in the pursuit.
Officers eventually caught up with the four men at a residence in the 100 block of third avenue in Webb. The driver, 34-year-old Billy Bloyer of Laurens, was charged with eluding, driving while revoked, no SR-22 insurance and interference with official acts.
The three passengers, 26-year-old Aaron Steelman and 24-year-old William Salton…both of Spencer…along with 26-year-old Jim Foster of Webb…were charged with interference with official acts. All three were released after posting bond.
Bloyer was held on a cash bond of more than nine-thousand dollars.
