Freak Accident Injures Emmetsburg Man

(Spencer)– An Emmetsburg man was injured when a piece of rebar came off a trailer he was following and went through the windshield of his car.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 50-year-old Robert Schleisman was driving a 2002 P-T Cruiser behind a 1975 truck owned by DeLoss Construction of Spencer and driven by 42-year-old Keith Strohman of Spencer when the mishap took place shortly after 4:00 p.m. Saturday in the 3500 block of 240th Avenue in Clay county.

There was no immediate word on the nature or extent of Schleisman’s injuries.

Strohman was cited for spilling a load on a highway.

The car driven by Schleisman was totaled.
