(Sioux Rapids)– Authorities have released the names of three people killed in a three-vehicle collision over the weekend on Highway 71 near Sioux Rapids.
The Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office identifies the victims as 48-year-old Jose Anatolio Heliodora Flores-Sanchez, 49-year-old Angelina Lopez-Hernandez and 11-year-old Alberto Lopez-Perez all of Spencer.
Authoritites say all three were in a van that was hit from behind by a pickup. The van then went into oncoming traffic where it was hit by a semi.
Deputies say a woman in a car had pulled off the road to check her mail. The van slowed down but was hit by the pickup. The van then went into the opposite lane and was hit by the semi.
