(Spirit Lake)– A traffic stop Thursday evening in Spirit Lake resulted in the apprehension of five illegal aliens.
Spirit Lake police say officers pulled over a mini-van shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Highways nine and 71 near Pure Fishing. Upon investigating, officers determined the five occupants in the vehicle were in the country illegally.
All five were taken into custody and were transported to Sioux City by agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement for detention hearings.
Authorities say the van had Arizona license plates on it.
The incident remains under investigation.
