(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake city council Tuesday paved the way for the future expansion of 23rd Street between Hill and Jackson Avenues.
The council unanimously approved the purchase of two lots at 2302 Hill Avenue for 176-thousand dollars.
The city is hoping someone will purchase a house currently located on one of the lots and move it to the other lot not needed for the street right-of-way, or move it to another location altogether.
A timeframe for the street extension hasn’t been set.
City officials say the property recently went on the market, making this the time to act on the acquisition.
