Electrical Short Ruled As Probable Cause Of SL House Fire

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– An electrical short in an extension cord has been ruled as the probable cause of a house fire earlier this week in Spirit Lake.

The State Fire Marshall’s Office says the cord was under a sofa.

The fire at 2301 Erie Avenue was contained to the living room, but smoke and heat damage was reported in other parts of the house.

No one was home at the time and no injuries were reported.

Spirit Lake firefighters were called to the scene around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The fire was discovered by a passerby.
