(Spencer)– With the high price of gas, you might think the volume of traffic this Memorial Day weekend would be lower than in past years. But Vince Kurtz, an education officer with the Iowa State Patrol’s Post Six Office in Spencer believes just the opposite will be true.
Kurtz says if you’re among those who will be on the road this weekend and you’re not wearing your seatbelt, you can expect to be pulled over. He says the State Patrol and other agencies will have additional officers on the road this weekend looking for anyone not buckled up.
Kurtz says Iowa is currently ranked 11th in the nation when it comes to seatbelt compliance…which is at 90 percent. He says they want to keep it that way, or even improve on the standing. While that’s important, Kurtz says what’s even more important is that seatbelts save lives.
