(Spirit Lake)– Residents in a portion of Spirit Lake that had sewage back-ups as the result of a May rain storm are eligible to participate in a program the city council approved Tuesday.
It’s limited to residents in that part of the city bounded by East Lake Okoboji to the east; 19th Street on the south; Gary Avenue to the west and 13th Street on the north.
Under the program, any resident in that area that files documentation with the city about sewage backing up into their home as the result of the May 5th storm will receive 750-dollars to purchase a “backflow preventer”.
Eligible residents must apply by August 31st of this year.
