Trail On West Side Of Big Spirit Dedicated

November 22, 2014

(Orleans)– the newest extension of Dickinson county’s recreational trail system was officially dedicated in a ceremony Friday at Templar Park on the west side of Big Spirit Lake.

This portion of the trail runs from roughly St. Margaret’s Cemetery on the south to Marble Beach on the north.

Trails officials announced a section of trail from Templar Park to Marble Beach has been named “The Amy Grant Spirit Path” in honor of Grant, who, along with her husband Vince Gill, were on hand for Friday’s ceremony.

Grant, an avid bicycle rider herself, said lakes area visitors and residents should be very proud of the trail system we have. Grant added she wished they had a similar system in their hometown of Nashville.

Following the ceremony, Grant and Gill joined in on a ride along the newly dedicated trail.

The two also performed Friday evening before a soldout benefit for the Trails Board.
