(Arnolds Park)– The Okoboji Foundation announced Wednesday it’s grant recipients for 2007.
Executive Director Ann Ditsworth says the Dickinson County Trails Association was awarded 75-thousand dollars to support the expansion of trails along Highway 86 on the west side of West Lake Okoboji; the Bedell Family YMCA was awarded 22,109-dollars for an irrigation system for the soccer fields; and 20-thousand dollars was awarded to the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation to help with its effort of acquiring and preserving land at Angler’s Bay on the northeast side of Big Spirit Lake.
The Okoboji Foundation, formerly known as the University of Okoboji Foundation, has awarded 1.85 million dollars over the 20 years it’s been in existence.
Ditsworth says they’re launching a special campaign to enhance the foundation’s endowment fund to help meet the need for future funding requests. She says that effort is being headed up by Berkley Bedell. Anyone wanting more information should contact the Okoboji Foundation at 332-7177.
