SL Traffic Stop Results In Drug Charge Against Spencer Man

(Spirit Lake)– A traffic stop Wednesday in Spirit Lake resulted in charges against a Spencer man.

Spirit Lake police say officers pulled over a vehicle shortly after 2:00 p.m. on Highway 71. The driver, 54-year-old Kenneth Versluis of Spencer, was found to be driving without a valid license and was arrested.

A subsequent search led to the discovery of prescription drugs.

Versluis was booked into the Dickinson county jail on charges of driving while revoked; no SR-22 insurance; unlawful possession of a prescription drug; posssession of a controlled substance…marijuana; and possession of a controlled substance…methamphetamine.

The alleged incident took place shortly after 2:00 p.m.
