Crash West Of Lake Park Injures Three

November 22, 2014

(Lake Park)– A two-vehicle crash Friday evening on Highway Nine two miles east of the Dickinson/Osceola county line sent three people to the hospital.

The Iowa State Patrol says 39-year-old Kevin Trei of George was driving a 1998 Chevrolet pickup when he swerved to miss some traffic. Authorities say he then lost control and struck a 2006 Dodge pickup that was parked along the side of the road. Both vehicles came to rest in the middle of the road.

Jaws of life equipment was used to extricate Trei from his vehicle.

Kevin Trei and a passenger in his vehicle, 10-year-old Christopher Trei, were taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake. An occupant in the vehicle that was struck, 48-year-old Christopher Wyly of Tehachapi, California, was taken to Lakes Regional Healthcare by private vehicle. There was no immediate word on the extent of injuries.

Damage estimates also weren’t immediately available.

The mishap took place shortly before 6:30 p.m. Friday.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
