Tent Theatre Project Coming To Arnolds Park

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– The Iowa Tent Theatre Project, reminiscent of traveling theatre troupes of the 1920’s, is coming to Preservation Plaza in Arnolds Park Monday, July 16th.

Ralph Hall, a stage director and playwright from the University of Iowa, will bring his “Standing Tall–An Iowa Tent Show” two 12 Iowa communities this summer, including the Iowa Great Lakes.

Admission to the Iowa Tent Theatre is free. The show will begin at 7:00 p.m. July 16th. A free hotdog picnic and “tent theatre talk” is scheduled beforehand at 6:00 p.m.

“Standing Tall” is a comical, heartwarming account of a young farm family braving country living in the 1930’s.

Free tickets for the show will be handed out at the picnic. The tent has a capacity for about 300 people.

The family-friendly show is being sponsored by ArtsLIVE, Historic Arnolds Park, Incorporated and the Lakes Community Theatre. It’s partially funded by a Humanities Iowa Grant and the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The performance is about an hour in length and features an acting ensemble with members from Missouri, California, Colorado, Chicago and Iowa.
