Major Improvements Planned For Highway Nine In Osceola County

November 22, 2014

(Sibley)– Some major improvements are in the works for Highway Nine in Osceola county.

Clyde Bartel, staff engineer with the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Regional Office in Sioux City, tells KUOO news the project between the Highway 60 interchange and the Dickinson county line will be extensive.

Bartels says the project will be done over two construction seasons. The first segment, between County Road L-58, or the Ocheyedan blacktop, and the Dickinson County line, is scheduled for 2008. The other segment, between County Road L-58 and the Highway 60 interchange, is scheduled for 2009.

Bartels says detours will be required.

He says D-O-T officials will be on hand for a public meeting later this month to explain the project to the public and discuss the proposed detour routes. That meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 24th from Noon until 2:00 p.m. at the Sibley Public Library.
