Man Takes Officers On High Speed Pursuit Through Three Counties

November 22, 2014

(Worthington, Mn.)– A Brewster, Minnesota man faces multiple charges after leading officers on a high speed pursuit through three southwest Minnesota counties earlier this week.

Worthington police say it started around 2:00 a.m. Tuesday when an officer tried to make a traffic stop on a vehicle being driven erratically. The driver refused to pull over and sped away from the officer. The vehicle turned around and collided with the squad car. It continued on, with the officer in pursuit. The vehicle increased even more in speed, went through a ditch and became airborne…landing on Highways 59 and 60…continuing northeast. The pursuit continued into Windom at speeds in excess of 130 miles-per-hour. Stop sticks were deployed near the junction of Highways 60 and 86, but the driver went around them.

The pursuit continued south on Highway 71, where the vehicle hit a second set of stop sticks, flattening a tire.

The pursuit continued south into Jackson, with the vehicle throwing sparks as it rode on a rim. It continued on for about another six blocks before coming to a stop on the south edge of Jackson. That’s where the driver, 26-year-old Jimmy McNab, was finally taken into custody.

McNab was booked into the Nobles county jail on charges of fleeing a police officer, obstructing the legal process, assaulting a peace officer and fourth-degree driving while impaired. McNab has since been released after posting bail.

The Jackson and Windom Police Departments assisted in the pursuit, along with the Nobles, Cottonwood and Jackson County Sheriff’s Offices.

Officers in Dickinson county were put on alert when the chase reached Jackson.
