(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Water Quality Commission is accepting applications for its next round of grants.
Spokesman Steve Anderson says applications are available at the Dickinson County Soil and Water Conservation District Office in Spirit Lake. The deadline to apply is October 1st.
Anderson says the grant program is intended to help non-profit organizations match funds for water quality improvement projects not only in the Iowa Great Lakes, but throughout Dickinson county.
Anderson says they’ll have 200-thousand dollars available to work with again in this round of grants.
Anderson says the Dickinson County Water Quality Commission has a goal of bringing in three dollars for every one dollar raised locally. Over it’s seven years in existence, Anderson says the commission has awarded just over a million dollars in grants with a return of just over seven million dollars for water quality projects.
