(Spirit Lake)– The search is on for 2010 Dickinson County Fair Queen candidates.
Contestants must be atleast 16 years of age and not more than 21 years of age on August 12th, 2010 and must never have been married or have had children. The candidate must reside in Dickinson or an adjoining county if the majority of her activities are in Dickinson county.
The contestant must also be active in atleast one service organization.
The newly crowned Dickinson County Fair Queen will advance to the State Fair Queen competition. She will also assist at county fair shows and represent Dickinson county at the state fair and various parades throughout the region.
Judging is based on community involvement, written responses to questions, an interview with judges and general personality, leadership and beauty.
Each candidate will receive a scholarship for Iowa Lakes Community College and a 100-dollar savings bond from the Dickinson County Fair Board. The queen will receive travel expenses to the Iowa State Fair; a 500-dollar scholarship to Iowa Lakes Community College to be awarded in her second semester in college and a 200-dollar savings bond from Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative.
Entries must be returned to the Dickinson County Fair Office by 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 21st. Coronation will be held Sunday evening, July 25th at the fair.
